Hello – Funny One here! Today’s state is Oklahoma. The picture is of me playing the banjo with some birds. The American Banjo Museum is dedicated to preserving and promoting the music and heritage of the banjo. Makes me wanna learn how to play it now! The birds are from The World of Wings Pigeon Center. They have an extensive collection of historic pigeon equipment clocks, bands, trophies, plaques, paintings and photographs. There are even extensive collections of World War I and II army pigeon corps equipment, including transport carriers and message holders. I had no idea there are so many types of breed of pigeon. They all look adorable. I would love one! http://www.pigeoncenter.org/ Staying with nature, there’s The Tiger Safari, which is a non-profit, walk-through wildlife facility which allows you to get up close to the animals on guided tours. Sounds grrrrreat!
Some more interesting places to go: the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association museum. On April the 19th, 1995 at 9:02 in downtown Oklahoma City, there was a massacre so immense that it gripped an entire nation and made the whole world stand still in shock. The Oklahoma City bombing was a terrorist bomb attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. 646 people were inside the building when the bomb exploded. At the end of that day, twenty people were confirmed dead. Two memorials were made in memory of those who died – one is at the Oklahoma State Firefighters Museum and the other is at the International Association of Firefighters offices in Washington, D.C. The Murrah Memorial is in the main hall, you’ll see it as you enter the Museum Building; The 99s Museum of Women Pilots is a great place where their exhibit areas and the library will provide new insights into the role that women pilots had in the development of aviation. It’s plane to see that it’ll be interesting!!
